Down Goes Memphis, 4-2, to Nashville

The 2112 season is off to a good start for the Nashville Sounds. The hometown Sounds knocked off the Memphis Redbirds, 4-2, at Herschel Greer Stadium. Nashville pitcher Alex Cruz paced his team to the win. Cruz, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 10, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Jonathan Godoy earned the save for Nashville, his 1st of the year.
The Sounds got a big at-bat from third baseman Kyle Russo. For the game, Russo was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Nashville a 3-2 lead.
"We took home the win," said Cruz. "What's not to like?"
