The 2114 season is off to a good start for the Syracuse Chiefs. The hometown Chiefs knocked off the Buffalo Bisons, 4-2, at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse pitcher Luis Hernandez paced his team to the win. The winning pitcher was Hernandez, now 1-0. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8.

Humberto Rubio had a big 2-run home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Syracuse leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Justin Blatchford and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Chiefs on top, 3-0.

"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Hernandez.
