Isotopes Take Tight Tangle
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Isotopes Park, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2108 Pacific Coast League season. On the mound was Jose Perez for the visiting El Paso Chihuahuas and Rich Kraus for the hometown Albuquerque Isotopes. In a spirited contest, the Isotopes pulled out the win, defeating the Chihuahuas by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was Rich Kraus.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Crosby in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Emanuele Delmonico to win the game for Albuquerque. The home crowd went nuts.
"Rich giving us the start that he did was huge," said Albuquerque manager Caleb Eldridge.
