The Iowa Cubs got a strong performance from pitcher Miguel Majano, who stymied the Omaha offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Principal Park. Majano, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 10, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Dustin Case recorded his 1st save for Iowa.

Josh Bushman aided the Iowa cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.

After the game, Iowa manager Tom Fleming applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

The win gives Iowa a record of 2-1.
