A good performance from designated hitter Ken Halford helped the Memphis Redbirds defeat the Nashville Sounds, 10-1. Halford went 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Redbirds. Tsuneo Tanada, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Nashville now is 0-5.

With Memphis leading 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Halford hit a fastball from Tyler Bailey for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Redbirds ahead, 6-1.

"They just got us," said Nashville manager Mauricio Soto, "and that's all I can say."
