Redbirds Go Down to Defeat, 4-3
|
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox picked up a win at Security Service Field, downing the Memphis Redbirds, 4-3. On the mound for Colorado Springs was right-hander Ken Poole, who played a pivotal role in the win. Poole picked up the win for Colorado Springs, going 6 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Bobby Pekala nailed down the save.
Lewis Moffat had a big bases-clearing double for the Sky Sox in the bottom of the first inning. With Colorado Springs leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Stratton and swatted a double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sky Sox ahead, 4-0.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Memphis manager Justin Tullar.
The loss drops the Redbirds to 5-1.
