The Colorado Springs Sky Sox polished off the Memphis Redbirds by the score of 5-1. The largest share of the credit belonged to first baseman Jose Falcon. Falcon went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Sky Sox. The victory makes Colorado Springs 4-3.
Eric Fitzsimons had a big run-scoring triple for the Sky Sox in the bottom of the third inning. With Colorado Springs leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Dan Filippone and swatted a triple to center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sky Sox ahead, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Sky Sox manager Nate Bouse, "I like our chances."
