Indians Thwart Clippers, 2-1
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Columbus Clippers home opener. Josh Peacock started for the home team against Ian Mignogna for the Indianapolis Indians. The Clippers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 2-1, Indianapolis. Josh Peacock, though, was impressive. Picking up the save was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Dave Stearns.
Moges Mukanda had a big solo home run for the Indians in the top of the sixth inning. With Indianapolis leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from former first round draft pick Josh Peacock and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Indians on top, 2-0.
Mukanda called the win "a collective effort."
