The Tacoma Rainiers scored a convincing win at Smith's Ballpark, defeating the Salt Lake Bees, 11-3. One of the hitting stars was 22-year old catcher Roberto Penaloza who went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The win gives Tacoma a record of 3-6.

Danny Mendoza was 1 for 3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for Tacoma. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Matt McDuffy. It was his 4th hit of the season.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Mendoza told the Tacoma Bulletin.
