Scranton WB Upended, 5-2, by Syracuse
|
The Syracuse Chiefs knocked off the Scranton WB RailRiders, 5-2, in International League action at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse pitcher and Valencia, Venezuela, native Luis Ruiz had an outstanding performance. Ruiz got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 9 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Chiefs raised their record to 2-0.
Third Baseman Mike Collings made an impact for Syracuse, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Bobby Hogsett in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Collings went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Ruiz.
