Weinstein Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
|
Today at Chukchansi Park, Evan Weinstein put on an impressive display.
The El Paso Chihuahuas center fielder tagged Fresno pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Fresno Grizzlies by the score of 9-3.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Weinstein said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Chihuahuas manager was unwilling to offer the center fielder much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Evan told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Matt Pace said.
Evan Weinstein singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Weinstein is batting .378 with 1 home runs and 6 RBIs this season.
