The Sacramento River Cats topped the Tacoma Rainiers, 7-2, in Pacific Conference action at Cheney Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Sacramento pitcher and Eden Prairie, Minnesota, native Justin Gage. Picking up his 3rd save was 27-year old left-handed pitcher Matt Moore. The Rainiers, now 7-15 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.

Sacramento used the timely hitting of Julien Fuchs to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the River Cats ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Our offense was purring," said Sacramento manager Damian Rivera. "Like a well-oiled machine."
