Chihuahuas Clip 51s, 3-2
|
Las Vegas got a valiant performance from pitcher Adam Sager, but it wasn't enough to beat the El Paso Chihuahuas. El Paso won the game, 3-2. Sager threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Erik Roth snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 3.1 innings. He's now 2-0 on the season. So far, the 2104 season has been disappointing for Las Vegas, now 10-13.
Had Victor Salinas not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Salinas hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Chihuahuas.
After the game, El Paso manager Marvin Jimenez applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
