Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Aces Ballpark.

Reno got a big-time effort from pitcher Marcos Montijo, but it wasn't enough to keep the Sacramento River Cats from winning the game, 8-4. Montijo threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. The win went to Jamie Estrella in relief, making him now 3-2. David Nickerson took the loss for Reno.

Mike Mathews drove in one run for Sacramento. The 26-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off David Nickerson. It was his 5th RBI of the season.

In postgame remarks, Mathews said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."

The Aces fall to 12-16 and continue their lackluster start to the 2110 season.
