Storm Chasers Drop Chihuahuas, 4-3
|
Omaha starter Matt Poerio had a strong outing against the El Paso Chihuahuas at Southwest University park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. In 7.1 innings, Poerio surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Roberto Rente got credit for the save for Omaha. It was his 2nd of the year.
Omaha relied on the hitting of Matt McElhose to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Storm Chasers on top, 4-1. For the game, McElhose had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Poerio said.
El Paso is 19-11 after the defeat.
