The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Round Rock Express, 5-3, at Dell Diamond. The Chihuahuas got a fine performance from right fielder Sam Baia, who was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. El Paso reliever Steve Tapley was the winner. His record is now 5-1. The losing pitcher was Jesus Jaramillo. Ryan Milbrand earned the save for El Paso, his 2nd.

With El Paso trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Baia hit a sinker from Jesus Jaramillo for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Chihuahuas ahead, 2-1.

"We're going through a bad spell," said Round Rock manager Yukio Tanaka.

With the win, the Chihuahuas have a record of 17-13.
