Chihuahuas Down Storm Chasers, 2-1
|
Pete Bettencourt pitched well, but the Omaha Storm Chasers still lost the game, falling 2-1 to the El Paso Chihuahuas at Southwest University park. The second-place Chihuahuas improved to 20-11.
Had Chris Ell not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ell hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Chihuahuas.
"Good win for us," said Ell. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
