The Sacramento River Cats topped the Fresno Grizzlies, 5-3, in Pacific Conference action at Raley Field. The standout performance belonged to Sacramento pitcher and Manteca, California, native Rod Strader. Strader got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 5 over 6 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Jamie Estrella notched his 7th save of the season.

Michael Earnest had a big run-scoring double for the River Cats in the bottom of the third inning. With Sacramento leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Grangroth and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the River Cats ahead, 2-0.

"The vibe's good," said Sacramento manager Brian Johnson. "We've got to keep it going."

The River Cats have an impressive 20-11 record.
