RubberDucks Walk Off with 7-6 Win
The Akron RubberDucks did just enough to sneak past the Reading Fightin Phils, 7-6, at Canal Park. Akron left fielder Mario Mendoza, in particular, had a standout performance. Kevin Kaye, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The RubberDucks, now 5-1, have stormed out of the gates.

Micah Cannon was the walk-off hero for Akron. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the RubberDucks right fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Akron manager Chris Knowlton.
