Norfolk got a decent performance from pitcher Dave Benedict, but it wasn't enough to beat the Gwinnett Braves. Gwinnett won the Coolray Field contest, 6-4. Benedict came in in relief and pitched to 26 batters for the losing team. Jesus Medina got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Pete Kasper collected save number 2.

The Braves got a big at-bat from third baseman Erik Stewart. For the game, Stewart was 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Gwinnett a 4-3 lead.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Norfolk manager Alfredo Rojas.

The loss drops Norfolk to 0-4.
