Dodgers Fall Short, 3-2, at El Paso
Southwest University park was the site of a tense game between the Oklahoma City Dodgers and El Paso Chihuahuas.

The Oklahoma City Dodgers were defeated, 3-2, by the El Paso Chihuahuas at Southwest University park, even though Jorge Cortez pitched well for Oklahoma City. Their 19-16 record puts the Chihuahuas second in the Pacific Conference South Division.

Jason Meertens had a big run-scoring triple for the Chihuahuas in the bottom of the third inning. With El Paso leading 2-1 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Cortez and swatted a triple to left. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chihuahuas ahead, 3-1.

"That's baseball," said Oklahoma City manager Vicente Gutierrez. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
