Iowa Rallies to 5-3 Win
|
Chris Britton was a major contributor to the 5-3 Iowa win over El Paso. The Cubs first baseman went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Matthew Wallace picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-4 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 0 in 7 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Joel Duffy nailed down his 2nd save.
Britton had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-1 changeup from Jose Perez, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Cubs a 5-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Britton.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Britton told the Iowa Daily News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
Their 18-16 record puts the Cubs third in the American Conference North Division.
