The Iowa Cubs and Sacramento River Cats completed their game despite the inclement weather.

Nick Kress never let the River Cats get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Cubs to a win, 4-1. Dan Petti collected his 6th save.

Kress kept the River Cats under his thumb. He scattered 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 10. The right-hander upped his season record to 2-0.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Kress. "Successful pitchers do it."

The Cubs raised their record to 17-20.
