Loss to Chihuahuas Extends Nashville Losing Streak
|
Herschel Greer Stadium hosted a real pitchers' duel.
The Nashville Sounds wasted an inspired, 6.1-inning effort from starter Vinny Veiga, falling, 2-1, to the El Paso Chihuahuas at Herschel Greer Stadium. The win was credited to Justin Walsh in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Vinny Veiga took the loss.
The Sounds had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Chihuahuas going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old right fielder Bobby Pilkington came to the plate. Pilkington hit a solo home run on a 2-1 fastball from Nashville hurler Vinny Veiga. It was Pilkington's 2nd home run of the year.
"When you're losing, the game looks more difficult to play than it is," said Nashville manager Victor Santillanes.
Nashville is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 11 games.
