Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Fresno Grizzlies and Colorado Springs Sky Sox.
The Fresno Grizzlies picked up a win at Security Service Field, downing the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 7-2. On the mound for Fresno was left-hander Johnny Gibson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Gibson got the win, improving to 4-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
Fidel Hernandez had a big run-scoring double for the Grizzlies in the top of the third inning. With Fresno leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Miguel Ortega, who is tied for 10th in the AC in wins with 3, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grizzlies ahead, 2-0.
Said Fresno manager Mike Gibson: "Our approach was outstanding all night long."
The third-place Grizzlies bumped their record to 19-20.
