Bees Capture Close Win
The Salt Lake Bees overcame a good performance by Colorado Springs third baseman Dennis Schickel to knock off Colorado Springs, 7-6, at Smith's Ballpark. Schickel went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The Bees, at 23-19, sit in third place in the Pacific Conference South Division.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 28-year old first baseman Matt Barnes had a chance to be the hero. Colorado Springs pitcher Jay Badeau wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Barnes hit a sacrifice fly. The Bees had themselves a thrilling win.

"What a great game, great atmosphere," Barnes said.
