Redbirds Get Extra-Inning, 6-5 Win
The Memphis Redbirds weathered a fine game by Tacoma left fielder Ray McNary to upend the Rainiers, 6-5, at Cheney Stadium. McNary was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Memphis reliever Jonathan Reddington was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Colin Orr took the loss. The second-place Redbirds have won 4 straight.

Memphis used the timely hitting of Jay Gunter to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Redbirds on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Gunter.
