51s Drop Sounds, 3-2
|
Nashville wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Alex Cruz, falling to the Las Vegas 51s, 3-2. Cruz threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Cesar Almonte, the winner, is now 1-1. He struck out 5 and walked 5 over 7 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. Bert Reed finished the game for Las Vegas and earned his 6th save.
Matt McKenna came through with a big-time hit for Las Vegas. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Every loss stings," said Nashville manager Mauricio Soto. "This one is no exception."
The last-place 51s have won 5 straight games.
