In the postgame interview, the 24-year-old right-hander said he was focused on "trying to keep the ball down and letting guys put it in play."

"It worked for me today," Perez said.

Perez has gone to the hill for 10 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 2-5 record with a 7.15 ERA. The El Paso reliever has limited opposing batters to a .280 batting average.
