Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Salt Lake Bees and Iowa Cubs.

The Salt Lake Bees racked up a win at Smith's Ballpark, bumping off the Iowa Cubs, 5-3. Darius Frederick, who started for Salt Lake, pitched effectively for his team. Earning his 3rd save for Salt Lake was Ruben Perez.

Alex Villarreal had a big solo home run for the Bees in the bottom of the third inning. With Salt Lake leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Edwin Galdamez and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Bees on top, 2-0.

Salt Lake manager Aaron Hunt commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."

At 25-21, Salt Lake is in second place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
