Behind the bravura of shortstop Andy Alford, the Tacoma Rainiers topped the Reno Aces by the score of 7-3. Alford was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rainiers. The last-place Aces now sit at 20-29.

With Tacoma leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Alford came up to bat against Reno pitcher Eric Patterson. Alford hit a fastball to left for a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Rainiers on top, 3-0.
