Albert Preciado Hurls No-No Against New Orleans
|
The no-hitter is one of baseball's truly egalitarian achievements. It's done by the great and the not-so-great alike, and for nearly all of them it represents the pinnacle of a career. Colorado Springs Sky Sox pitcher Albert Preciado had his moment today at Zephyr Field, holding the New Orleans Zephyrs hitless and beating them, 3-0.
"Everything was working for him," Zephyrs manager Pat Katz said. "He had a lot of late movement that seemed to cause the guys trouble, especially from the fifth inning on. He was in command."
Preciado rung up 6 strikeouts, issued 4 walks and faced only 29 hitters in his historic outing. After the game, he spoke to BNN reporters in the Colorado Springs locker room.
"I really got nervous in the last inning," Preciado recalled. "I knew I had a chance at a no-hitter but it was hard to stay calm and concentrate. Thank goodness for my catcher. He told me he would do all the thinking and I could just concentrate on hitting his glove."
So far in 9 appearances this season, Preciado has recorded 5 wins and sustained 1 loss. He has pitched 56 innings, yielded 50 hits, fanned 51 and has a 3.21 ERA.
