The Las Vegas 51s wanted a good start from Hector Mares -- and he delivered one. The result was a 3-2 Las Vegas win over the Salt Lake Bees at Cashman Field. With this game in the books, Las Vegas is 23-27, Salt Lake 18-32.

The Bees had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the 51s going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old left fielder Roger Kittinger came to the plate. Kittinger hit a 2-run home run on a 2-0 fastball from Salt Lake hurler Eddie Shipman. It was Kittinger's 3rd home run of the year.

"The want-to is there for our guys," said Salt Lake manager Aaron Hunt. "We'll get this thing turned around."
