The Fresno Grizzlies downed the Tacoma Rainiers, 2-1, at Cheney Stadium. Stellar pitching by Rich Friesz had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the PC in complete games with 1, handcuffed his opponent all game. The win has Fresno at 20-30.

Fresno used a timely hit from 33-year old first baseman Gilberto Frausto to get the win. The designated hitter delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Grizzlies on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was huge.

"Tough loss," said Tacoma manager John Conway. "This one will sting for a while."
