Storm Chasers Upend Sounds, 8-4
|
The Omaha Storm Chasers grabbed a win, 8-4, over the Nashville Sounds at Herschel Greer Stadium. Omaha third baseman Alex Rios was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Matt Poerio got the win, improving to 7-2. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The loss makes Nashville 28-23.
Omaha relied on the hitting of Kyle Mellecker to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Storm Chasers on top, 8-3. For the game, Mellecker had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Mellecker, "and go after the next one."
