Memphis Beats Colorado Springs, 7-4
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Memphis Redbirds beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 7-4, at Security Service Field. Edwin Longoria, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and 3 walks, while scoring 3. The winning pitcher was Hector Gordillo. His record is now 7-4. The right-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Redbirds. Jon Simmons was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
The Redbirds benefited from an error in the top of the sixth inning. Memphis was leading 4-1 when Willie Martinez hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Memphis in front, 6-1.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Martinez.
The Redbirds raised their record to 28-25.
