Starting pitcher Steve Powers held up his part of the bargain, helping the Sacramento River Cats stymie the Fresno Grizzlies, 2-1. Earning his 8th save for Sacramento was Nick Webb. Sacramento has 4 straight wins, Fresno 4 straight losses.

The River Cats got an important contribution from second baseman Kenny Giancola, who in the bottom of the third punched a 2-1 cutter into right-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the River Cats ahead, 2-0.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Powers said.
