Zephyrs Win, 7-5, Versus Oklahoma City
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Bob Proctor, the New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 7-5. Proctor was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk for the Zephyrs. Joe Davis, who leads the AC in saves with 11, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Seth Kaderly. New Orleans, at 32-22, sits in second place in the American Conference South Division.
Johan Geiger came through with a big-time hit for New Orleans. The third baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Geiger, "one at-bat at a time."
