The El Paso Chihuahuas, despite a fine performance by Las Vegas pitcher Mike Figueroa, grabbed a 3-1 win at Southwest University park. Figueroa allowed 1 run over 6.2 innings. The first-place Chihuahuas lifted their record to 32-22.

Tyler Atkinson played the role of hero for El Paso. In the bottom of the ninth, he launched a 2-run home run off Erik Rice to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was the decisive blow.

"This joint was rocking," said Atkinson.
