Bees Handle Chihuahuas, Grab 5-2 Win
The Salt Lake Bees defeated the El Paso Chihuahuas, 5-2, in Pacific Conference action at Smith's Ballpark. Salt Lake pitcher Jim Kolling had a standout performance. The winner was Kolling. He threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Matt Zmuda. Their 28-26 record puts the Bees last in the Pacific Conference South Division.

Tom Peavey had a big run-scoring double for the Bees in the bottom of the third inning. With Salt Lake leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Kyle Pierce and swatted a double to right. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bees ahead, 2-0.

"It's a mindset," said Kolling. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
