Starting pitcher Ryan DiPonio pitched well enough to help the Sacramento River Cats beat the Reno Aces, 5-3. Nick Woods nailed down his 3rd save. Sacramento is now 34-21.

The Aces had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the River Cats going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old center fielder Luis Cano came to the plate. Cano hit a 2-run triple on a 0-1 fastball from Reno hurler Kyle Brown. It was Cano's 3rd triple of the year.

Sacramento manager Elwiin de Lange was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
