RubberDucks Saddle Flying Squirrels with 6-4 Loss
|
Akron registered a win at The Diamond by beating the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 6-4. Pitcher Ryan Richardson was one reason why the RubberDucks triumphed. Richardson, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 10, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Roger Phillips nailed down his 2nd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Alex Casco? The Akron center fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the RubberDucks on top, 3-2. For the game, Casco had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Casco told the Akron Gazette. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
The win lifts Akron to a record of 4-3.
