Chris Bateman pitched well, but the Salt Lake Bees still lost the game, falling, 3-2, to the El Paso Chihuahuas at Smith's Ballpark. The third-place Chihuahuas hiked their record to 28-30.

El Paso won the game in part because of Kurt Jones. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chihuahuas ahead, 3-1. For the game, Jones had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Jones.
