The Salt Lake Bees topped the El Paso Chihuahuas, 7-1, the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Sergio Mendez. On the day, Mendez belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Bees. The defeat makes El Paso 29-30.

With Salt Lake leading 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Mendez hit a fastball from Jason Bingham for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Bees ahead, 4-0.

"We're trying to go out there and win games," Mendez told the Salt Lake Today, "and we played pretty well tonight."
