Rainiers Knock Off River Cats at Cheney Stadium
The Sacramento River Cats and Tacoma Rainiers riveted fans at Cheney Stadium.

The Tacoma Rainiers outlasted Sergio Almanza and the Sacramento River Cats, 9-7. Almanza was impressive in the loss. The Sacramento left fielder was 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times. Ernie Lydon, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-6. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 10 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 2.

Danny Dominguez, the Tacoma third baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 3-1, Rainiers. For the game, Dominguez went 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI.

"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Dominguez told the Tacoma Daily News.

The Rainiers saw their win-loss record go to 28-32. At the same time, the River Cats fell to 35-25.
