Dodgers Handle Storm Chasers, 2-1
|
Omaha got a terrific performance from pitcher Nate Wagner, but it wasn't enough to beat the Oklahoma City Dodgers. Oklahoma City won the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark contest, 2-1. Wagner threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Nick Haines recorded the save for Oklahoma City, his 3rd of the season. The American Conference North Division-leading Dodgers are 44-16.
Had Noah Sanders not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Sanders hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Dodgers.
"Winning never gets dull," said Sanders.
