Isotopes Clipped, 2-1
|
The Albuquerque Isotopes got a superb performance from pitcher Leonardo Duran. Still, it wasn't enough to beat El Paso. The Chihuahuas won the game, 2-1. Duran threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was El Paso reliever Josh Beckmann, now 5-2. The loser was Nick Avery. Chris Pine closed it out for El Paso, earning his 1st save.
Had Alfredo Sanchez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Sanchez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Chihuahuas.
"Our offense was purring," said El Paso manager Matt Pace. "Like a well-oiled machine."
The Chihuahuas, at 34-29, sit in last place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
