The Sacramento River Cats beat the Fresno Grizzlies, 3-2. Sacramento pitcher and Manteca, California, native Rod Strader led the way. In 7 innings, Strader surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Ryan Zangaro, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Sacramento took a 3-2 lead on David Carroll Jr.'s 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Carroll Jr. hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Fresno pitcher Mike Gardner visibly frustrated.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Fresno manager Mike Gibson.
