Wood Lifts Indians to 7-1 Win
|
The Indianapolis Indians defeated the Columbus Clippers, 7-1. Doing his part was second baseman Pat Wood, who went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 times. With the win, Indianapolis climbs to 3-5.
The Indians got a big at-bat from left fielder Sean Carpenter. For the game, Carpenter went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Indianapolis a 4-0 lead.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Columbus skipper Dan Goldthwaite. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
