Rainiers Thwart Chihuahuas, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Tacoma Rainiers got the win.
Led by 22-year-old Rich Diaz, the Tacoma Rainiers knocked off the El Paso Chihuahuas, 4-2. Diaz went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Rainiers. The winning pitcher was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Jose Palomo. He tossed 98 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The save went to Lee Clark, number 5 for him.
Tacoma took the lead in the top of the fifth when Diaz hit a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season made the score 3-0, Tacoma.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Diaz.
