River Cats Get One-Run Win at Albuquerque
|
The Sacramento River Cats beat the Albuquerque Isotopes, 4-3. Sacramento pitcher and Alameda, California, native Gene Jones led the way. Ryan Zangaro closed it out for his 2nd save. Sacramento now has a record of 41-25 with the win.
The River Cats got a big at-bat from catcher Mike Mathews. For the game, Mathews was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Sacramento a 2-0 lead.
Jones attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
